Sexual Assault Occurs Outside Lauderdale Lakes Bank

Recently, Broward Sheriff’s detectives were handing out flyers to let residents know about a crime which happened in the area. The rape which happened was against a 48 year old woman off of State Road 7.

The incident which occurred at around 5 a.m. Two man approached a 48 year old woman when they say her walking along the street. One man was short while the other was taller. One of the men as on a bicycle.

When the two saw her walking on the street, they took to the drive thru teller area of the bank where there are plenty of bushes and tree. She was forced to go because the two men had a grey gun that they showed to her.

Both men wore black and one had a hood on it. Their features and age could not be determined because of the clothes that they were wearing as well as the hoods which were over their heads.

When she was in the back of the bank, she was struck by the suspect who was not holding the gun. She was then forced to the ground where the two men assaulted her.

The purse that she was carrying was also stolen which contained a brick style MetroPCS phones, three social security cards, three resident alien cards and an FPL bill. The information about the victim was also in the purse which makes the victim concerned about her safety.

The BSO is hoping that the video that they have released from the bank camera will allow the rest of the citizens to identify the two men who are in question. They are asking that anyone with information leading to the arrest will contact them so that they will be able to apprehend him.

Rolex Thief Caught on Camera at the Airport

Either many people forget that there are cameras everywhere in an airport or they think that no one is actually watching the screens for the cameras. This has led to many arrests for crimes like the one which happened just recently at the airport in which a man was caught stealing a Rolex out of a bin while going through the security station at the airport.

Unfortunately in this case, the guilty party was not immediately apprehended for his crime. He was able to get away with a Rolex with an estimated value of $6,500.

The reason why it happened was because Gloria de Regaldo was going through the security gate while traveling back home after wintering in South Florida. She inadvertently left her watch in the bin as she was hurrying to get to her flight back home.

Regaldo did eventually realize that she did not have her watch with her, but at the time, over 30 minutes had elapsed. The recognition software did not have the suspect in the system whenever they checked the cameras.

The passenger directly behind Regaldo noticed the watch inside of the bin in front of him as he was gathering his own belongings. The cameras show the suspect picking up his laptop and shoes and heading to a steel bench. After putting his shoes, the suspect placed his laptop and the watch in his bag.

The police were not able to know which flight the suspect was on nor were they able to find him in the airport whenever the incident was reported to police. The suspect was able to get away with the watch to the destination he was traveling to. Police are urging anyone who might have any information which will lead to an arrest to come forward.

Couple Arrested After Child Found with Burned and Missing Fingers

Police and domestic services responded to reports of a child being tortured at a home in Broward County. What they found was a two year old who had a badly disfigured hand. The two who were supposed to be watching her were arrested and are being held in Broward County Jail with $50,000 bail.

Responders on the scene found a two month old little girl with a bandaged hand. Irma Mastamu, 22 (one of the two arrested along with Kenneth Chavelier, 29) explained that the injury as a result of a soup burn. This account did not match up with the severity of the burns that she has encountered. The two were arrested when found by police at the Crossland Economy Studios near Northwest 31st and Commercial Boulevard. It is unclear at this time whether Chavelier is the father of the toddler or not.

The pediatrician who examined the little girl determined that the burns were from something far worse. The nature of the burns and the incident leading up to the burns are still under investigation. It is suspected that neglect is the only charge that the couple will face at the moment. The investigation will determine if more charges need to be filed.

After being asked why she did not take her daughter to the hospital, Mastamu replied that she instead just looked up how to treat the burns online. There is no indication as to whether the arresting officers and investigators believe her testimony that she believed the burns to not be very serious.

Investigators are sickened by the incident and feel terrible for the little girl. She is being cared for with the utmost attention under the watchful eyes of the Florida Department of Children & Families.

Red Handed Crook Caught for Bank Robbery

On Monday, a bank robbery was ended not long before it began with the criminal being apprehended, literally red handed.

Cedrick Shivers, 47, was robbing the Iberian Bank in Wilton Manors when he was slipped some red dye along with the bank notes. This is how Shivers was in the end caught.

The robbery began as so many do these days. Shivers handed over a note in which he threatened to bomb the building if the teller did not hand over cash. In keeping with bank policy, the teller did not fight or raise an alarm. Instead, she filled the sack with cash and slipped in a red dye pack along with the cash when Shivers had his head turned.

As Shivers pulled away from the bank, the red dye pack exploded in the car. As luck would have it, not for Shivers, he was speeding. He was pulled over by a Wilton Manors police office for a routine traffic stop.

As the police officer approached the vehicle, he noticed that there was a red cloud in the passenger side of the vehicle. When he got to the car, he noticed that there were red bills on the passenger seat and red dye on Shivers’ shirt. The only thing he could say was that they had caught him red handed.

Shivers was taken into custody and arrested for bank robbery. Since no weapon was found either on his person or in the car, no charge of use of a weapon could be brought against him. He has made his first appearance already in court and will meet with the judge again on Friday to talk about the pretrial phase of your case. He is being held in Fort Lauderdale federal facilities until that time.
